We are enjoying longer, more active lives than in any time in history. But, as we age our bodies change and a lifetime of activity can take its toll. Painful, stiff joints can become lifestyle altering and prevent many individuals from participating in the daily activities they enjoy.

Our comprehensive approach not only includes the latest surgical advances offered by our specialty trained physicians but also a certified nursing staff specializing in the care of the orthopaedic patient. Every patient receives an individualized exercise plan with a goal of discharge to home.

Joint Replacement Services

Normally, all parts of the joint work together and the joint moves easily without pain. When the joint becomes diseased or injured, the resulting pain can severely limit your ability to move and work, and hip conditions can manifest themselves in various parts of the body including the legs.

After your hip surgery it is our goal for you to have decreased pain and restored range of motion in your hip.

Brandon Regional Hospital now offers a new technique to minimize pain and recovery time for hip replacement surgery. The Anterior Approach Hip Replacement uses a muscle sparing approach that allows the surgeon to replace the hip joint without detaching any muscles or tendons from the bone.

The Anterior Approach Hip Replacement has many benefits over conventional treatment options:

  • Smaller incision creating reduced pain
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Faster rehabilitation
  • Earlier return to daily activities
  • Lower risk of dislocation

Disease or injury can disturb the normal functioning of a knee, which can result in pain, muscle weakness, and limited movement. And with longer life expectancies and great activity levels, joint replacement is being performed in greater numbers on younger patients.

Our orthopaedic surgeons have extensive experience performing knee surgery, including minimally invasive knee surgery. After your knee surgery, it is our goal for you to have decreased pain and restored range of motion in your knee.

Shoulder surgery or replacement may be an option for individuals with serious shoulder conditions or severe injuries who have not been able to find relief with non-operative treatments.

Our experienced medical staff can evaluate your condition and determine if shoulder surgery is necessary, or if a non-surgical treatment or other conservative approaches may be effective.

New Robotic Assisted Joint Replacement

Robotic assisted joint replacement is designed for those suffering with inflammatory or non-inflammatory degenerative joint disease (DJD). Using real-time information and images of your hip or knee, your surgeon knows and controls accurate implant placement.

Robotic Assisted Joint Replacement Benefits May Include:

  • Accurate placement of your joint implant using the surgeon-controlled robotic-arm system
  • Faster recovery from surgery due to minimally invasive techniques used
  • Decreased risk of the implant and bone abnormally rubbing together – this may improve the lifetime of the implant

Robotic assisted joint replacement is designed to achieve a new level of precision using the latest techniques in total joint replacement and is designed to restore mobility and an active lifestyle. If your surgeon determines that you are a good candidate for a robotic assisted joint replacement, he or she will schedule a computed tomography (CT) scan of your hip or knee one to two weeks prior to your surgery date. This is used to create your unique surgical plan for optimal implant placement. Your physician should discuss the specific risks associated with the procedure and other treatment options with you.
