Rotation Information

All rotations are meant to help trainees develop in various areas of surgery in line the ACGME’s defined core competencies of medical knowledge, patient care, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, practice based learning and improvement, and systems based practice.

  • General Surgery-Green Team -- Works with green team surgeons. Wide ranging surgery service.
  • Thoracic Surgery – Thoracic focused rotation with the green team surgeons. When thoracic cases are not available, the rotation participates with green service general surgery.
  • General Surgery-Blue Team -- General Surgery-Blue Service. Works with blue team surgeons. Wide ranging surgery service.
  • Vascular Surgery – Vascular focused rotation with the blue team surgeons. When vascular cases are not available, the rotation participates with blue service general surgery.
  • Specialty Surgery-Gold Team – This is a hybrid rotation encompassing surgical oncology, pediatric surgery, and gastroenterology/endoscopy surgeries.
  • Plastic Surgery – Rotation focused on reconstructing or repairing body parts.
  • Trauma/Critical Care – Away rotation at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, a level 2 trauma center. Rotation focuses on non/operative trauma, SICU/CCU, and burn treatment.
  • Transplant/Hepatobiliary  – Away rotation at Largo Medical Center focused on organ transplant surgery, and post-transplant surgery monitoring and care.
  • Night Float – Night coverage rotation.
