$60M ER Expansion Project Completed
Brandon, FL – Brandon Regional Hospital, an HCA West Florida hospital, recently opened a new Pediatric Emergency Center exclusively for kids. The new pediatric ER has 16 private rooms, pediatric emergency medicine experts on staff, and a new patient entrance located on Vonderburg Drive.
As the seventh busiest ER in Florida, Brandon Regional Hospital serves approximately 120,000 patients each year. To keep up with patient demand and needs, the hospital allocated $60M to a multi-phase expansion. The newly completed pediatric ER is the third and final phase of this expansion.
One of the unique features of the new pediatric ER is the “No Cry Zone” concept implemented to help reduce anxiety and pain for kids in the ER. The physicians and staff work together to ensure that pain and anxiety are managed using medications and painless IV techniques. A certified child life specialist also utilizes iPads, bubbles, and games to distract and comfort the kids during procedures.
“We are extremely excited to be opening this new space to serve kids and families in our community,” says Candice Ramesar, Vice President of Emergency Services at Brandon Regional Hospital. “Families in our community now have a beautiful, family centered pediatric ER that will provide safe and high quality care for kids.”
