Brandon, FL – Brandon Regional Hospital hosted a Nursing Year in Review Gala on April 27th at the Regent in Riverview. Approximately 360 nurses, physicians, staff and board members attended the reception that featured speakers including Bland Eng, Chief Executive Officer, and Chris Taramasco, Chief Nursing Officer, at Brandon Regional Hospital.

The event honored the achievements of the nursing staff and physicians at Brandon Regional Hospital who spend much of their time directly caring for patients and improving the health and lives of those in the local Brandon community.

The highlight of the evening was the awards ceremony that recognized a Nurse of the Year and a Physician of the Year. Nurses were nominated by physicians and physicians were nominated by nurses at the hospital. There were multiple nominees in both categories that were recognized throughout the evening. Nominees were chosen for their commitment to clinical excellence, patient experience and for their embodiment of Brandon Regional Hospital’s vision of “Exceptional Care by Exceptional People.”

Joyce Sankey, RN, Charge Nurse for Labor and Delivery, was named the Nurse of the Year. Sankey was chosen for her proven leadership, mentorship abilities and for her dedication to providing the best patient care for expectant moms in Brandon Regional Hospital’s Baby Suites.

Dr. Donovan Tapper, Board Certified General Surgeon on staff at Brandon Regional Hospital, was selected as the Physician of the Year. Dr. Tapper was recognized for his excellent clinical skills, high level of professionalism and unwavering compassion for the patients and families he cares for.
