Your medical team consists of a radiation oncologist, medical physicist, dosimetrist, radiation therapist and a nurse navigator.
Radiation Oncologist
Specializes in the treatment of cancer patients with radiation therapy; works with the team to develop the dose and length of treatment; meets with the patient and discusses the suggested treatment.
Medical Physicist
Designs or approves the plan which is then approved by the physician; overseas continued maintenance and operation of the machine.
Dosimetrist
Designs the plan which is then approved by the physician.
Radiation Therapist
Administers the treatment that was planned by the physician, physicist and dosimetrist.
Nurse Navigator
Works closely with the patient and designated care partner to coordinate all visits to the CyberKnife Cancer Center and other physician visits; works with outside agencies and support organizations if necessary; and answers any questions the patient or care partner may have.
